The Beautiful Irony of it all
The Beautiful Irony of it all
By Winnie Kakuba
When I first heard about the Vienna College Alumni Dinner, I felt a rush of excitement, something between nostalgia and anticipation. It had been years, decades even, since I’d seen many of my classmates and fellow alumni from the class of 2002. The thought of gathering again, in the same place where so many of our stories began, felt like a homecoming I couldn’t miss.
What made it even more special was the venue itself: Vienna College. Walking through those familiar grounds stirred up a flood of memories. I found myself smiling at the sight of the trees we once planted as punishment. Back then, they were symbols of mischief and consequence. Now, they stand tall and proud a living monument to our shared history. The beautiful irony of it all wasn’t lost on me.
Those high school years, though distant, remain deeply formative. Vienna shaped us,not just through academics, but through the friendships, challenges, and values we carried into adulthood. That’s why this alumni community means so much to me. It’s not merely about reminiscing; it’s about rekindling a shared purpose.
Through this network, we have a chance to make our legacy matter. We can mentor current students, support scholarships, and contribute to meaningful causes within our communities. The spirit of Vienna College should live on not just in our memories, but in our actions.
