Why Alumni Support for the Vienna Titans.
Why Alumni Support for the Vienna Titans.
Behind the bold biege jerseys of the Vienna Titans and their growing presence on the field lies something even stronger the unwavering support of the Vienna College Namugongo Alumni community. At the forefront of this support is the Old Pals Investment Club (OPIC), led by Eng. Ntimba Michael, an alumnus from the Class of 2000-2005.
Born out of a shared experience at Vienna College, OPIC was initially created to encourage financial growth, learning, and mutual support among friends. But now, the club is extending its reach into something just as powerful legacy building through sports. And the Vienna Titans are their newest partners in that journey.
“Vienna Titans is also under the Vienna Alumni umbrella and just like our club was born from Vienna College. We see them as an extension of Vienna College Namugongo,” says Eng. Ntimba.
“Having been one of the sportsmen during our time, I know the influence sports has on people it unifies, connects and maintains relationships.”
The OPIC team sees their sponsorship not just as a financial contribution but as an investment in the spirit and future of Vienna College. The Titans, who unveiled their smart new jerseys at the latest game, are more than just a team they’re a symbol of alumni unity, excellence, and hope.
“For starters, they were the most smartly dressed team yesterday and that’s a fact,” Ntimba smiles. “But more importantly, it showed how organised Vienna College Namugongo is. That level of coordination and pride is exactly what we want to celebrate and support.”
For the Old Pals, the Titans reignite a sense of nostalgia bringing back memories of the Roystone League, a student-organised competition that shaped many legends like Andrew Kabuura. The feeling is familiar, yet the mission is bigger.
“We hope our support inspires other alumni to join in. Already, from the jersey reveal alone, we had over 50 orders from the Vienna community that's one of the easiest ways to show support.”
The benefits, however, go far beyond the scoreboard. This partnership creates opportunities for mentorship, networking, and visibility. It fosters a culture of alumni giving back not just through funds but through time, wisdom, and presence.
“Off the field, the Titans now have a mentoring role with existing students. This ensures continuity, and that the flame never dies out.”
Through this support, OPIC hopes to spark a movement a ripple effect across the alumni community to unite under the common goal of building and sustaining the spirit of Vienna College Namugongo.
“We believe in these young men. And we want them to believe in themselves to know that they are loved and supported by those who walked these halls before them."
This is just the beginning. As the alumni president works on a comprehensive roadmap, clubs like OPIC are ready to plug in and scale up supporting not just sports but other areas of growth and innovation within the Vienna Community.
“We too were nurtured. When we see the Titans, we see our younger selves. The legacy must continue.”
A Call to the Vienna Community
As Eng. Ntimba passionately states:
“While you may not be playing for the Titans, be the 51st person to buy that jersey. Come and support these games. Share the moments on social media. Talk to these young players. Let’s show them what it means to be part of the Vienna family.”
From game day excitement to lasting mentorship, the Titans are more than just a football team they are a bridge between generations.
Vienna College Namugongo to the world.
