How Simon Singiza Found His Calling in Hospitality and Leadership

For Simon Singiza, success didn’t arrive by accident,it was crafted from ambition, molded by opportunity, and fueled by a drive to make an impact.

Now a thriving hotelier and hospitality consultant, Simon has spent over a decade shaping the guest experience across Uganda and beyond.

But before the executive meetings and advisory roles in five-star hotels, his journey began in the vibrant corridors of Vienna College.

“I grew up in hospitality. It’s been a family business,” Simon said. “So I didn’t just stumble into the industry I was born into it.”

Simon’s work now spans hotel marketing, managerial consulting, and Airbnb advisory, offering services to establishments ranging from startups to luxury resorts.

But while his professional path is clearly defined today, the leadership spark was first lit at Vienna.

“Vienna gave me a head start,” he recalled. “I held leadership positions as president of the debate club, head of the Catholic community, editor of the 411. It forced me to step up early. That early experience propelled me into top managerial roles in almost every hotel I’ve worked in.”

A proud member of the Class of 2012, Simon’s years at Vienna are etched with memories of growth, risk-taking, and discovery. One pivotal moment? Running for Head Boy.

“I didn’t win, but it was the best decision I made. It opened doors to the debate club, writers' club, admin meetings. I gained influence and insight.”

Simon’s biggest takeaway? “Don’t fear your dreams. The regrets don’t come from failure they come from the chances you didn’t take.”

He credits mentors like Mr. Wakuma for grounding him in business fundamentals that would later define his career. “Business was a subject I took seriously at Vienna, and now it’s central to everything I do,” said Simon, who is now completing a Master’s in Business Administration.

Of course, the journey wasn’t without challenges. One of the biggest, he says, was adapting to different values and backgrounds at school. But that cultural exposure prepared him for a global career. “You learn to work with different mindsets. That’s priceless.”

His motivation? Living a life of purpose. “What impact are you leaving behind? Whether it’s leading a student club or guiding a hotel, I aim to make a positive mark.”

As a member of Vienna’s alumni network, Simon sees vast potential. “We are global,” he emphasized.

“Whether in the U.S., South Africa, or even Kazakhstan, there’s a Vienna alum somewhere. It’s about harnessing that social capital and building a powerhouse network.”
