Alumni Spotlight
Jonathan Lyadda _ Class of 2009
Jonathan Lyadda is a Travel Agent & Consultant at Alaura Tours and Travels | Kibona Safaris
“Life’s all about making memories.”
For Jonathan Lyadda, that idea isn’t just a personal mantra it’s the foundation of his work.
As a travel agent and consultant, he helps people explore East Africa through tailored trips and curated experiences. He currently works with Alaura Tours and Travels and consults with Kibona Safaris, blending practical planning with a love for discovery.
His passion for travel is rooted in creating meaningful connections;with both places and people. “Whether it’s a weekend getaway or a client’s first safari, the joy is in the experience,” he says.
Jonathan graduated from Vienna College Namugongo in 2009 and credits mentors like Mr. Wakuma and Mr. Kakiika with shaping his outlook beyond academics. “They spoke to us about life outside the classroom. At the time it felt abstract, but now, as an adult, it all makes sense.”
One memory stands out clearly: a final class trip to Jinja after exams. “That was a moment that has stayed with me. It represented freedom, transition, and the friendships we built.”
After Vienna, Jonathan approached university life with a sense of purpose and maturity.
“Vienna gave us a level of independence that helped us manage our time and responsibilities early. By the time we got to campus, we were ready.”
Today, he’s proud to have co-founded a travel company with his classmate Laura Kamugisha, turning a shared interest into a growing enterprise. He sets personal goals;daily, weekly, and long-term;to keep himself focused and moving forward. To current students, his advice is simple:“If you have a passion, nurture it. Don’t let anyone tell you it doesn’t matter. That passion could shape your future.”
Jonathan supports the alumni dinner as an opportunity to reconnect and build community. “This is a chance to network, support one another, and lay the foundation for a strong alumni association. We need something we can all call home.”
When asked how he’d like to be remembered, he says; “As someone who listened, took initiative, and helped get things started.”
